Importers will be facing new challenges in 2025. This free webinar will help you prepare for some of these challenges, including new trade rules and regulations that are expected.

As part of the webinar, the Chartered Institute’s Ilona Kawka will present key changes that are due to take place in UK and EU trade that will particularly affect importers.

Kawka will cover the UK’s Border Target Operating Model, the UK and EU’s carbon border adjustment mechanisms (CBAMs), as well as deforestation regulation and customs reform in the EU.

The webinar will also cover inward and outward processing, the customs authorisations that enable international supply chains to operate more efficiently. These are frequently used by manufacturers and importers.

Whether used for bringing in components or materials for use in the production of a particular good (inward processing), or for temporarily exporting goods for processing, repairs, or fixes (outward processing), these procedures enable businesses to better manage their customs and duty obligations while engaging in cross-border trade.

A panel of leading trade and supply chain experts will introduce how these authorisations operate, advising businesses on how they can most benefit from them both today and tomorrow.

The panel will include:

  • Ilona Kawka – advisory practice lead for imports at the Chartered Institute
  • Grace Thompson – UK public affairs lead at the Chartered Institute
  • Sylwia Nowak – global trade technology manager at Collins Aerospace

The webinar will also introduce listeners to the Chartered Institute’s new advisory practice for imports. The practice, which will be led by Kawka, will offer advisory services on various aspects of importing including the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM) and inward processing.
