Female entrepreneurs are being encouraged to attend a free conference at NatWest’s head offices in London on Tuesday 25 October to get practical tips on how to trade internationally.
Hosted by the Organization of Women in Trade, alongside NatWest, the ‘Going Global: A to Z of international trade’ event will ‘focus on providing practical knowledge, insights and signposting for women trading internationally’.
Women who are already trading internationally will share tips and insights during workshops and masterclasses, and there will be keynote addresses from industry experts.
IOE&IT speakers
The Institute of Export & International Trade (IOE&IT) is supporting the event following its activity promoting gender equality in global trade at the WTO Public Forum in Geneva.
It will be represented by its director of special projects and international development, Kevin Shakespeare, and Susan Roe, a customs and trade specialist.
Shakespeare, who will be delivering a keynote presentation on ‘traditional payment mechanisms’, encouraged female entrepreneurs to attend.
“The IOE&IT is taking a lead on promoting gender equality in global trade, as evidenced by our activities at the WTO Public Forum last month,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to this event and would encourage any female entrepreneurs to go.”
Practical guidance
The conference is placing a strong emphasis on practical support with foreign transactions, cash flows and trade finance among the key topics on the agenda.
Roe, who spoke on a recent IOE&IT webinar about exporting goods to the EU, will be delivering a masterclass on ‘essential steps for selling in international markets’.
“This is a great event which I hope our female readers will be able to attend,” said Roe.
“Trading internationally is great for businesses but you need to ensure you understand the relevant rules and processes. The regulatory landscape is continually changing, so coming to events like this is really important, as it helps you to understand what you need to know and do.”
