We have welcomed a wide range of students onto our internationally accredited two-year Foundation Degree in Professional Practice in International Trade since it was launched in 2011.
The course, developed by the IOE in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University, is designed to specifically meet the needs of businesses trading in a competitive global market, and we have been delighted with the overwhelmingly positive feedback and testimonials that we have received from our graduates since its conception.
“The support network provided by the Institute has made it possible to intelligently query and interrogate the degree and I have always felt that my questions could be answered by someone who genuinely cared about me as a person.”
Students not only hail from a variety of industries – the most recent ones heralded from shipping, construction, energy logistics, car manufacturing and even the United Nations, but they also come from all corners of the globe, including Nigeria, Iraq, Angola, Switzerland and naturally, the UK.
The course provides them with information they had not previously been aware of, which helps them to understand international trade mechanisms, processes, strategies and marketing issues, as well as considering the financial, commercial, ethical and practical requirements involved.
“The Foundation Degree in International Trade is a practical way for someone with moderate knowledge of the supply chain industry to substantially increase their own understanding and apply it to their work.”
Many emphasise the impact the qualification has had within their organisation, some cite significant improvements in several areas of their international operations as a result of what they have learnt; others stress how the Foundation Degree has opened up opportunities for them to move into more senior roles within their industries.
“The course encouraged me to ask the searching questions of my colleagues that I may not otherwise have had the inclination, or found the time, to ask.”
Modules identified as being particularly useful include International Logistics and Purchasing, Practical Global Trading, Management of International Trade, Finance of International Trade and International Marketing.
“I would highly recommend this Foundation Degree to anyone within the supply chain business that wishes to increase their practical knowledge and support ambitions to progress.”
With the launch of our new MSc in International Trade, Strategy and Operations, which has been developed in collaboration with the University of Warwick, students have the opportunity to continue with their learning. The MSc provides a thorough knowledge and understanding of the management and operational requirements necessary to trade successfully in international markets.
The programme has been designed to appeal to a wide range of participants seeking to take on senior roles in organisations that trade internationally, including those from engineering, retail, manufacturing, wholesale, financial services and service sectors.
It gives us such an immense sense of pride that in our 80th year of supporting global trade for British businesses we can now say that a student can start with us at the age of 16 and follow our professional qualifications through to a MSc from Warwick University.
