The Institute of Export & International Trade is inviting its members to take part in a short survey on behalf of HMRC on their experiences in trading, both from an importer perspective and as exporters.
In building a business case for policy change, the IOE&IT’s ‘Customs and Trade Facilitation Survey’ is collecting feedback to help HM Government simplify and digitise UK
reliefs.
Kevin Shakespeare, IOE&IT Academy director, stressed the importance and significance of IOE&IT member feedback.
Making trade procedures more digital
He said: “This survey is our members’ opportunity to contribute to the future of customs and trade environment in the UK. HMRC is actively encouraging us as members to provide feedback that it can use in a practical way to make trading overseas easier and more digital.”
The survey, which takes five minutes to complete, is mainly multiple choice questions with some verbatim responses requested. Those who do respond will be entered into a prize draw for Amazon vouchers.

Real life examples needed
The survey asks the IOE&IT's trader community to give details of their trading experience, including difficulties they might have with importing and exporting, such as extra costs and staff time it takes when inputting data into different government systems and platforms.
Shakespeare urged respondents to provide this detail as “real life examples help inform government formulate strategy to make life easier for traders”.
