Leading experts in international trade will join our Director General, Lesley Batchelor, at next week’s International Trade Expo at ACC Liverpool to share the secrets of their success.
It is the first time that the two day event on June 10-11 – which is part of this year’s International Festival of Business – has been held outside of London. It is expected to attract up to 3,000 business decision makers across the UK and worldwide who are keen to find out how they can start exporting – or grow their businesses internationally.
Fellow speakers at the event also include Mike Josypenko; IOE Director for Special Projects who will be among a panel discussion on whether companies can access the right finance to broaden their export horizons.
Lesley’s talk will focus on the widening gap of international trade skills, the reasons why this is happening and the solutions needed to reduce it.
Lesley said: “It has never been more critical for Britain to match the level of commitment to professionalism in international trade, training and education made by our European and worldwide counterparts. We need to embed professionalism in international trade by encouraging existing businesses to harness the wealth of opportunities available and engage with young people – channeling them into careers in exporting which will continue to drive job creation and boost the economy.”
International Trade Expo show producer, Nick James commented: “The speakers over the two days will give attendees the confidence and ability to think about expanding their business, and the reassurance that it can be done. It’s getting over the initial hurdles that can be problematic, but we have the experts on hand to guide businesses through the right steps to take and ensure they start on the road to success.
“The Expo is the place to get in depth knowledge and advice. Using case studies from successful organisations to explain what has worked and what hasn’t, the Expo will provide up to the minute advice on International Trade for exporters, importers, investors and entrepreneurs.”
The event provides a one-stop advice shop for UK businesses who trade internationally and showcases UK cities and regions seeking to attract overseas investment. The dynamic platform will create a forum for international destinations to present direct foreign investment opportunities and connect UK businesses trading internationally, with experts, opportunities, products and services to boost their commercial growth.
Visitors will have the opportunity to share best practices, meet potential customers and partners, keep up to speed on the latest investment and business opportunities, and identify key growth sectors.
The IOE is a partner with the International Trade Expo together with The Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain and Middle East Trade and Export. Companies exhibiting alongside the IOE include the Intellectual Property Office, ACCA and TNT.
