In-person events

There's still time to grab your tickets for the Import Export Show.

Don’t miss the chance to meet myself, your head of membership, along with other colleagues from across the Chartered Institute, such as trade experts Anna Doherty and Ilona Kawka.

You’ll also get to hear from additional industry experts, including UK Trade Policy Project director at the European Centre for International Political Economy, David Henig.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow members and stay up to date on the latest developments in our profession.

Wales Member Forum launched

We were proud to launch our first Wales Member Forum this week – the first in our series of Devolved Nations Forums which will include Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Members in Wales had the opportunity to share insights and discuss how they would like the forum to develop.

Our goal is to amplify the voice of international trade professionals working in Wales, ensuring their challenges and contributions are recognised at a national and global level.

Launch of two new Special Interest Groups

Last week, we launched a new Special Interest Group (SIG) focusing on a critical area for our members:- borders, ports and logistics - and we also relaunched our popular Manufacturing SIG. These new quarterly SIGs are designed to provide tailored insights, support members in these sectors to build their professional networks and initiate dialogues on key issues and opportunities.

In the Borders, Ports & Logistics SIG, members explored the growing complexities of import/export barriers, with a focus on the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM) and how it is interpreted differently by port health authorities. The conversation also turned to the potential of freeports and the need for clarity on free trade agreements (FTAs).

The Manufacturing SIG covered the ongoing supply chain disruptions and regulatory uncertainties impacting manufacturers. Members suggested that workshops on FTAs and export licensing would provide much-needed support in navigating these issues.

Coming soon: Public and third sector community

Looking ahead, we are preparing to launch a new community aimed at members in the public and third sectors.

The launch of our newest member community will take place Tuesday 26 November at 2pm. This community will bring together members from organisations such as the Department for Business and Trade, Invest NI and Business Wales to collaborate and share best practices.
