Graduation 660 495

The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade will be welcoming students to Mansion House next week (24 October) to celebrate our class of 2024’s graduation.

Students completing qualifications ranging from Level 3 (A level) to Level 5 (foundation degree) will receive certificates in a ceremony led by director-general Marco Forgione.

Events director Charlie Laycock said that she’s looking forward to next:

“It’s a privilege to celebrate with our students each year, who have shown so much dedication to achieve their qualifications.

“The Chartered Institute community will be there to support them in the next phase of their careers, and we’re excited to see how they contribute to the world of international trade in the future.”

Ceremony

Students will hear from City of London lord mayor Michael Mainelli in the opening speech, as well as key insights from Professor Sangeeta Khorana, chair of the Chartered Institute’s academic board and professor of international trade policy at Aston University, and Terry Scuoler CBE, chair of the board.

Last year, Forgione inspired students with a call to “transform the world” through their newfound knowledge and push ahead with an ethos of open trade at a time of rising “geopolitical tension”.

Ahead of the US election, in which both candidates have urged continued or greater tariffs, and amid increasing trade disputes between China and the West, the message remains relevant this year.

Career development

Several students who will be collecting their certificates and prizes this year have shared their experience of studying with the Chartered Institute and how it’s helped them develop their careers.

Rebecca Crawshaw, a trade compliance manager at OptaSense Limited, described her experience as “instrumental in my career development”.

She added that her completion of Level 5 qualifications in International Logistics and Purchasing and International Marketing Strategy was “deeply rewarding, transforming not only [my] professional trajectory but also [my] personal outlook on the world.

‘Exceptional educators’

Jack McGinness from Nexus Cargo Handling Ltd. praised the “exceptional educators” who supported him in his studies for his Level 4 International Marketing qualification.

He thanked the Chartered Institute for “provid[ing] me with the opportunity to realise my potential” and “find my academic voice”.

Chloe Wilson shared that she was promoted to logistics coordinator at Forum Energy Technologies following her completion of a Level 3 certificate in International Trade with the Chartered Institute.

She said she “feels confident continuing [her] career” thanks to its support.
