The third Queen’s Award for Enterprise International Trade Gala dinner this September will celebrate the success of more than 100 British businesses commended for outstanding achievement in international trade.
The prestigious event, organised by the Institute of Export (IOE), takes place at London’s historic Clothworkers’ Hall on September 24 and is supported by Amber Road – a leader in global trade management software, which also sponsored last year’s dinner and HSBC.
After dinner speaker German comedian Henning Wehn – known as ‘The German Comedy Ambassador’, who has appeared on “Would I Lie to You”, “QI” and “8 Out of 10 Cats” will be entertaining guests.
Also speaking at the event will be our Director General, Lesley Batchelor OBE, who has judged the Queen’s Award for Enterprise category for the last three years, Lord Empey OBE, IOE President Jim Davis and IOE Chairman Ian Taylor.
The Queen’s Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate and encourage excellence in UK business. We hope that the 2014 winners will be an inspiration to all UK businesses and encourage them to enter year on year as many of our current award winners do.
Lesley said: “A big thank you to our valued sponsors for their backing and support which is very much appreciated. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the highest accolade for UK companies who undergo a vigorous progress with tough criteria, so the entries that make the judging short list really are the cream of the crop.
“To reach the shortlist, companies must demonstrate a real commitment to selling overseas as an integral part of their business strategy and goals. Entries are assessed in three key areas; overseas earnings’ growth, commercial success and strategy, and have to be embracing international trading as an integral part of their business strategy. We also need to see evidence of a planned approach to international trade rather than exporting happening by chance.”
