Hilary Charman receiving her Fellowship

 

At our Graduation & Prize Giving ceremony this week, the IOE&IT warmly welcomed Hilary Charman, International Trade Adviser for Department for International Trade South West region, as a Fellow.

Hilary is awarded a Fellowship Award for outstanding contribution to promoting and raising the standards of international trade amongst SMEs.

Having worked for the Department for International Trade for 20 years, Hilary is hailed as an exemplary individual and international trade advisor. She facilitates and delivers the Ready for Export workshops, has organised and manages several specialist export cluster groups in the South West region.

Fellows are elected by their peers for their outstanding achievements, eminence in the course of their employment in international business or in overseas related trade and/or who have made an outstanding contribution to the Institute.

Hilary received many nominations from her colleagues at the Department for International Trade and in the words of her colleagues: “Her encouragement, enthusiasm and knowledge are an inspiration to all.”

After the ceremony Hilary said: “I am honoured to have been made a Fellow of the Institute, which  I  joined when I started out my career in international trade after graduating in 1989.  Seeing the talented new Diploma graduates receive their awards this week, took me straight back to the days when I was working for my Diploma, whilst I was I was an Export manager in the '90s.  I am pleased to say how often the knowledge and skills I acquired are useful as I advise exporting companies in Somerset on a daily basis!"
