2024 has been a year of education, events and updates for members of the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade. The Import Export Show, the achievement of a Royal Charter and a rich programme of exclusive webinars kept the Chartered Institute and its members busy throughout the year.
But what about 2025? The anniversary year for the Chartered Institute – marking 90 years since its foundation in 1935 – will include another exciting programme of in-person and online events, as well as learning and networking opportunities.
MemberCon
MemberCon returns in 2025, taking place in Leeds on 13 March. Themed this year around the need to ‘strengthen and grow in a new era for trade’, the event will offer practical knowledge and learning for Chartered Institute members.
Including roundtables, speeches and panel discussions featuring experts from across the realm of trade, the day’s sessions will address the core challenges facing traders while offering a major networking and education opportunity.
You can buy your tickets for the event here.
Lunchtime Learning
The next in the Chartered Institute’s exclusive Lunchtime Learning series arrives early next year on 8 January, with a session on the border and customs changes ahead in 2025. You can sign up for that one here.
It’s not the only Lunchtime Learning session next month either, with another set to offer information and guidance on the 31 January implementation of new safety and security (S&S) checks on 31 January. The new requirements will mean EU imports will require the same S&S declarations as those from the rest of world. That one is available for sign-up here.
Other opportunities
Our Connect & Grow webinar series, featuring updates from Chartered Institute director general Marco Forgione, is also set to resume on 27 February. It offers both new and long-time members of the Chartered Institute an opportunity to network, give feedback to the organisation and get fresh insights into trade trends.
Other member events include a new Student Learning Series, where attendees will get unique guidance on finding the right career path through trade. A session on 2 April, which you can sign up for here, will see seasoned professionals set out what they wished they’d known before embarking on their career in the industry.
The Chartered Institute’s series of Special Interest Group sessions continues apace too, with a range of the events taking place throughout the year to give experts across industries an opportunity to discover and discuss important themes in export controls, manufacturing, logistics and more.
A free LinkedIn Live event on 15 January, meanwhile, will cover the skills needed for successful trade, as well as how managers can equip professionals with those skills. That one's available for registration here.
Import Export Show
Following this month’s successful Import Export Show in London, the event will return on 19 November 2025 to offer more practical insights and broad perspective on global trade as it emphasises a new theme of ‘local to global’.
Those interested in sponsoring or exhibiting at the event, which will take place in the Leonardo Royal Hotel at St Pauls, London, can contact james.clowes@export.org.uk.
